As you might have deduced, Sian Alice Group have come stateside this month (from their native London) to play some shows around the release of their sprawling masterpiece of a debut, 59.59.
Tonight is the big NYC show at Mercury Lounge with Sian Alice Group performing at 9:30pm on a bill with The Big Sleep and Priest Bird. Everyone who likes music should consider attendance to be mandatory.
You can hear some jams online at the following places but the band is a wholly different musical experience live so do not miss them.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Holiday party. Going into it with a 101ยบ fever it should have been an awful night but thanks to stellar performances by Growing, TK Webb, White Magic, IUD, James Loman, Brad Shanks, Alec, Mean Red Production and the Cyber James DJ Krew the night was pretty perfect. Thanks to everyone who donated at the door as well and helped spread the word. Good times even while horribly ill.
If anyone has any good photos please send them along to the info@thesocialregistry.com account..

We love Time Out NY and they wrote a nice little blurb about our Holiday Event but they misspoke on one point. The blurb suggests that I.U.D. will not be playing Holiday Themed Music, in actuality I.U.D. will be playing a lot of Holiday Themed Music from what we understand....like Jingle Bells and stuff.

Jah Division will be playing PS1 with The Jewish and Spencer Sweeny as part of a show opening. Lately they have not been playing Joy Division covers (which has turned out to be a very very very good thing) but for this particular event they will be doing the dubbed-out-manchester vibe. A new record is still n the works we are told and we get more and more excited about it every time we seem them play.....think Otha Turner meets Amon Duul or something.
You can RSVP with Sadie Laska by sending an email to sadie@ps1.org, please be polite and feel free to tell her how psyched you are to see the IUD Xmas set.

Friday December 15th at The Carriage House in Carroll Gardens
(383 Carroll Street BTWN Bond & Nevins)
Ten Bucks But Cheap Drinks.
A solid lineup this year though last year was pretty solid too. The party will be taking place at an unused carriage house in Carroll Gardens, and we have a number of bands either on the label or loved by us.
The always wonderful Growing will be playing their own brand of cosmic overtones. TK Webb is playing in support of his recent release on The Social Registry, Phantom Parade. We have been justifiably shouting about this record for a while, and TK's current live shows are equally praise-worthy. If you haven't had a chance to catch him live of late it is not to be missed, and if you have you clearly need no convincing. Doug Shaw and Mira Billotte of White Magic will be making a special appearance playing without the rest of their band, providing a rare opportunity to hear stripped-down versions of their songs. Previous IUD shows have been remarkable, as anyone who attended them will confirm. James Loman, an ex-member of both Blood Lines and The Cranium will be performing his brand new spoken-word set which is by all accounts amazing so be sure to turn up early. As if this wasn't enough we have added great DJs and some stand-up comedy.
If you have no idea how to get to the venue here are some directions:
F or G Train to Carroll St (fourth stop in Brooklyn from Manhattan). Exit at back of train. Walk 2.5 blocks from stop down Carroll.
Or
R Train to Union St. Walk 3 blocks west on Union, make left onto Nevins St., 2 blocks to Carroll St., turn right and walk over the bridge.
