Gang Gang Dance live in Brooklyn tomorrow (Tuesday 4/29)

Tomorrow night will see the first live performance from Gang Gang Dance in New York City for quite a while. They are playing at Southpaw in Park Slope. Also on the bill are High Places and Kria Brekken. If, for some strange reason, you need to be convinced to attend this show here is a quote from The Onion in their preview for the show: "Gang Gang Dance makes a real show of its shows-you never know what you'll hear or how you'll react when you hear it. The group's past few live appearances have been extraordinary, showcasing a firm command over an expansive sound that keeps getting bigger." Doors are at 8pm.

Sian Alice Group and Mike Bones Japanese tour starts tomorrow

Its a rare thing that any of our artists make it over to Japan, and we are pleased to say that right now two of them are over there for a string of dates in Tokyo. Continuing the success of their joint tour in the US last month both Sian Alice Group and Mike Bones are heading out on the road together again. As was the case with their US tour, Mike Bones will be joining Sian Alice Group on-stage and they will in turn be lending their talents to him as a backing band.

Sian Alice Group are out on the road in continuing support of their stunning debut album 59.59, and in advance of their new EP The Dusk Line, which will see release on The Social Registry this June (17th to be exact). Pitchfork recently forkcasted the title track which you can check out here.

Mike has just finished recording his follow up to The Sky Behind The Sea. We have heard some of the rough mixes and the record is sounding pretty damn amazing so far. Joining him on the record are a whole host of people including label mates Sian Alice Group, Douglas Armour and Brad Truax (Jah Division) as well as Parker Kindred (Anthony & The Johnsons) and Matt Sweeney amongst others. Look out for that one at some point later this year.

Douglas Armour New York shows this week

A Douglas Armour live show in New York is a rare thing, what with Doug being based in Los Angeles, but we are pleased to say that he has two appearances in the city scheduled for this week. Firstly he will be playing at Lit tonight (4/21). Doug should be coming on at around 11, and afterwards there is the always fun Hugs party upstairs with  Josh Wildman and Andrew Kuo DJing. Price is $6. Doug's second show is at Cake Shop this Wednesday (4/23). Price of the show is $6 and doors are at 8. He is first of three (The Lisps and Velella Velella are also on the bill) so expect him to play early. Doug played last Friday in Philadelphia with Gang Gang Dance and killed it so be sure to catch at least one of these shows.

For those of you in Philly (or for that matter nearby - this one should be worth a bit of a journey) Gang Gang Dance and Douglas Armour are playing a show at Johnny Brenda's. Matt Damhave Art Opening This Week

You are probably familiar with the artwork of Matthew Damhave. He's made many posters and T-shirts for us, DJed an event or two, issued a 40k Ghosts 7-inch and has done many other benevolent things over the years.

On Thursday, April 10th, marks the opening of his new art show. All should attend.
