Sian Alice Group, Mike Bones and Total Life live in Brooklyn tonight! (3/29)

Tonight Sian Alice Group are playing what will be their last show in the US for a while as they return to the UK this week. They have been over here for two months touring and their live sets have been nothing short of spectacular - they played a show in a gallery last night that was perhaps the best of the bunch (thankfully the whole thing was taped by Pitchfork TV). So....if you haven't managed to catch them while they have been over here now is your chance, and if you have then we presume you need no coaxing.

Also on the bill is Total Life, which is Kevin Doria from Growing. A Total Life live performance is a rare thing, and the material he has been working on is pretty damn good, so be sure to check him out. Kevin has just released an outstanding new record through Brown Sounds which is available in our mailorder store here.

And last, but by no means least, we have Mike Bones opening the show. This will be Mike's last show before heading in to the studio to record his second album this week. He is coming off a string of dates with Sian Alice Group (they are also backing him up) and the new material is truly sublime.

All in all a pretty excellent show if we do say so ourselves. The show is at Death By Audio (49 south 2nd between Kent and Wythe). Things should kick off at about 9pm and the cost is only a measly $6.

Messages live in New York tomorrow night (3/28)

Tomorrow night Messages will be playing live at Roulette (20 Greene Street between Grand and Canal). Messages features Tres Warren of Psychic Ills fame. You may recall us putting out a rather excellent 7-inch by the duo last summer. A Messages live show is a rare thing so check it out.

Sian Alice Group and Mike Bones live at Lit in NYC tonight (3/24) || Sian Alice Group free show this Friday (3/28)

Tonight Sian Alice Group and Mike Bones are playing a show downstairs at Lit Lounge in the East Village. Show starts at 9pm and there are three metal bands playing first so Bones probably won't be playing till around 11 with Sian Alice after that. Both bands killed it at SXSW and tonight will clearly be no different.

Afterwards Chris and Ivan from Ghost Exits will be DJing downstairs and the always fun Hugs party will be happening upstairs. An excellent night all round.

Sian Alice Group also have a free show scheduled in an art space in Chelsea this Friday at Gary Snyder Project Space. Show is from 7-9pm. If you wish to attend RSVP to jason@garysnyderart.com.

Total Life, Mick Barr and Jim Loman free show in New York tonight!

Tonight Total Life (Growing's Kevin Doria), Mick Barr (of Octis, Ocrilim, Orthrelm fame), Guest Species In The Conference Room (James Loman of Blood Lines and The Cranium) and Dan H. (Excepter's Dan Hoagland) are all playing a free show at Passerby (436 West 15th Street). Good friend to The Social Registry (and frequent poster designer) Matt Damhave will be playing records. All in all a pretty outstanding night of music that is all completely free. Shit kicks of at 9pm.

This is the release party for the Total Life and Mick Barr LPs on the Brown Sounds imprint. Both are very limited releases that will be available at the show - get em while you can.

We have been rocking a Podcast series for a while now. A perfect recording of Mike Bones playing solo at Cake Shop in NYC from early January. It still may go down as one of the best shows we've seen this year. Heart breaking and inspiring, we are particularly fond of this recording as the recorder was set up on the bar and has the wonderful added character of bottles breaking and cash registers opening.

Gang Gang Dance performance at the Whitney Biennial this Sunday (3/9)

Gang Gang Dance are set to play the Whitney Biennial this Sunday (3/9). The event is taking place at the Park Avenue Armory and in keeping with the fact that it is part of an art show will be far from a typical live performance. We are not sure exactly what the band has planned but do know that it involves "mirrors, paint and many other things." If you are unable to attend the event their will be an installation based on it up for view for the rest of the month. The performance starts at 9pm.
