This December we are pleased to say that Growing will be contributing their entry to The Social Club, our monthly 7-inch series. We assume this band needs no introduction: although this is their debut release on The Social Registry they have been releasing wonderful records on fine labels like Troubleman Unlimited and Kranky for several years now, including the pretty mind-blowing Vision Swim from earlier this year. Pitchfork recently reviewed the A-side 'Disconfirm' and had this to say: "telescopes a few things the band does well - a fuzzy rhythm loop, a clattering, organic-sounding synth riff, gradually shifting density - into an easily digestible three-minute chunk of sound. It fades out quickly just as it seems about to burst, which winds up being satisfying in a weird way, as your mind fills in what happens next." As with all editions of The Social Club this is limited to 750 copies, hand numbered and presented in beautiful letter-pressed artwork. This looks set to be the first of several releases from Growing on The Social Registry and, to put it simply, we couldn't be more pleased to welcome them in to the fold.

Now available in our mailorder store is an excellent live double LP by Growing, recently released on Conspiracy Records. Typically amazing music in insanely beautiful gatefold packaging.

This Saturday Psychic Ills will be playing their first NY area show since they played our summer festival in August at Glasslands in Williamsburg (289 Kent Avenue between S. 1st and S.2nd). Ills have spent the last few months in the studio working on their new studio record and so expect to hear a lot of new jams at the show. If you've ever seen them live you know they make a real experience of their live shows and that this is one not to be missed. Nymph and Lake (members of Excepter) just in case you needed any more encouragement.

Mike Bones' outstanding debut album The Sky Behind The Sea is out today! We couldn't be much more in love with Bones' music - the dude plays with a sincerity and natural talent so rarely seen. In addition to expectedly excellent musicianship The Sky Behind the Sea finds Bones focusing on his lyrics, providing some of the most considered and surprising words that we have heard in a long long time. The Sky Behind The Sea does not dissapoint and features Mike backed up by a bevy of excellent musicians including Parker Kindred (Anthony & The Johnsons), Samara Lubelski, Barry London (Jah Division) and Brad Truax (Jah Division).
